abused, neglected children: Watch the Aeros March
27, 2006 HOUSTON - Come support your
favorite Houston hockey team and abused and neglected children at the
Krause Childrens Center Night at the Houston Aeros on April 1. Fans
can sign up to take a shot-on-goal on the ice after the game! The night
kicks off with a performance by the Living Word Lutheran Band at 6:35 p.m. The
puck drops at 7:35 p.m. when the Aeros take on the Peoria Riverman. For tickets,
please call Cliff Owens at (713) 361-7953 or email at cowens@aeros.com.
A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Krause Childrens Center
in Katy for abused and neglected children. This is a chance for
families and friends to go have a fun night, while also supporting a great cause,
said Phillipa Ashford, chief executive officer of Krause. The Krause children
have never experienced loving, caring families, and this night is a chance to
show these children that someone truly does care. Krause Childrens
Center serves boys and girls ages 11 to 17 who suffer from severe emotional and
behavioral problems, mostly as a result of past abuse and neglect. Krause provides
specialized care in a secure, structured environment where residents can receive
therapy, attend school, enjoy recreational activities and are offered voluntary
spiritual care. Krause is an affiliated ministry of Lutheran Social Services
of the South. LSS is the social service arm of The Lutheran Church - Missouri
Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. LSS annually serves nearly
30,000 children, elderly and poor in Texas and Louisiana regardless of religious
beliefs, ethnicity, gender or age. Its ministry includes childrens centers,
therapeutic foster care, adoption, adult day care, health care and retirement
centers, emergency assistance and disaster response. Top
