Krause Childrens Center serves boys and girls ages 11
to 17 who suffer from severe emotional and behavioral problems,
mostly as a result of past abuse and neglect. Krause provides
specialized care in a secure, structured environment where residents
can receive therapy, attend school, enjoy recreational activities
and are offered voluntary spiritual care.
These are boys and girls who have been removed from their
families because they are neglected and abused, said Phillipa
Ashford, chief executive officer of Krause. They have
never experienced a loving family atmosphere, and it encourages
them to know that there are people out there who care for them.
The Domestic Abuse Center at Katy Christian Ministries served
more than 1,000 clients in the Katy/West Houston area last year.
DAC provides crisis intervention and counseling in Spanish and
English. DAC also offers weekly support groups for mothers and
children of abuse and helps them with legal issues and court
accompaniment.
Lutheran Social Services of the South, Inc., is the social service
