community get creative

What: Community Day
of Caring with the Houston Symphony. Krause residents and
members of the community will paint works of expressive art
inspired by music from an ensemble of Houston Symphony performers.
The completed paintings will be a part of a public exhibition
in Jones Hall in Houston Theater District in conjunction with
upcoming Houston Symphony performances.
When: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 29
Where: Krause Childrens
Center, 5638 Medical Center Drive in Katy.
Who: Krause residents, staff, volunteers and supporters.
Why: Krause, an affiliated
ministry of Lutheran Social Services, serves girls and boys
who are emotionally and behaviorally disturbed due to past abuse
and neglect. The Community Day of Caring is designed foster
creativity and raise self-esteem. The event is sponsored
by the Houston Symphony, Tradition Bank of Katy and the City
of Katy.
Lutheran Social Services is the
social service arm of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and
the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. LSS annually serves
nearly 23,000 children, elderly and poor in Texas and Louisiana
regardless of religious beliefs, ethnicity, gender or age. Its
ministry includes childrens residential treatment centers,
adoption, therapeutic foster care, adult day care, health care
and retirement centers, disaster response and emergency assistance.
